1G-GTE I believe, and NO! ITS CRAP!
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

yes 1ggte
and it is a very under rated motor.

in the right car it can be quite a monster

Yea, I wouldnt go so far to say its crap...its just a little underpowered in standard form for the vehicles it was in. My ga70 supra still went good, and was lots of fun, but dont expect any amazing power without spending some cash.

Hmm... Point taken. So probably not suited to the big body Supra then?

yea, imo. I saw an article with one in an ae86 a while back. Although it wouldnt help with the balance of one of them, it would go pretty good I would imagine

both came in the Mk3 supras, so it will fit fine. You will need to chane the loom etc also however. Unless the supra is very mint and you have got a 7m motor already I would just sell and buy a Ma70 (7m engined supra).
other option is to do something to the 1g if you are not happy with it- single turbo would make it better.

Whos car man? i havnt seen a GA70 around oamaru...

anyway, just Jz it if your going to do a swap, no point doing a 7m swap unless you have a specific reason to.

of course, depends if your pockets are lined with gold

There has been rumors about the 7M being a crap engine and offering stuff all gains over the likes of a 5M. Apparantly 7Ms blow headgaskets quite frequently???
But yea 1J or 2J the sucker and u'll be set 8)

the 7m can be a very solid unit, but if you go that root i seriously recommend you do a full rebuild before you put it in.
it will save alot of stress and bother in the long run.

i think you would be better off going 1uz into a mk3 tho, as you need the torque to haul those things around.

but 7mgte in a mk2 supra, it has to be felt to be believed.

More torque than jesus and faster than his apostles.

Theres no point doing a 7m conversion nowdays,

there are SFA good engines around (people are paying 1200$ just for a short block)

and by the time you get a good head gasket and bolts etc it just aint workth it when a 1jzgte is 1000$ or so.

a auto 1u into a mk3 is approx the same $$$$ as a 5spd 1jz into a mk3.

You've been thinking of putting something along the lines of a 1G-GTE in place of a 3S-GTE????? Are you NUTS?!

We have a Celica rally car that runs the 1GG engine.

It actually has a 1G-GZE engine with a turbo on it instead of the S/C.
The GZE one's have better rods and pistons etc compared to the others.

It's up for sale at the moment but if we still have it next month i'll take it to the dyno day in CHCH.
