3TGTE IGNITOR WIRING PROBLEMS

Postby DIRTYDX » Sat Jul 23, 2005 12:34 pm

**Calling all 3tgte experts and guru's**

We are 80% through the process of wiring up the standard ECU for the 3tgte in my KE36 but have come to a dead end and need sum expertise.

What i need to know is where the 4 wires off the ignitor (see top link below) go to, the only wiring diagram i have been able to find (bottom link below) shows the wires as being (G) green, (GW) green/white, (B) black and (Br) brown, where as the wires coming off my ignitor are blue, green, pink and yellow

If we are correct one of the wires in one of the pairs (guessing the green and blue wire pair) is the IGF wire (tells the knock computer what the dwell angle is?) and the other being the IGT wire (sends a signal from the knock computer and tells the ignitor to either advance or retard the timing?)

Again if we havnt got this totally wrong, the second pair of wires (the yellow and pink wires going to the green plug) are rpm signals with one wire going to my rev counter and the other wire sending a high voltage signal (over 150volts) to the ECU which then converts the voltage signal into a RPM signal??

So what we need to know is which wire goes to where, has anyone else got a different knock computer wiring diagram to the one we have?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! :D

I rewired my mates 3tgte powered celica racecar using the same set of wiring diagrams (the only ones on the internet that we could find!).
Another mate had already stripped the loom apart and cut off most of the plugs ready to go into the racecar. He did this without me never seeing the loom etc. in factory condition and he then didn't have time to finish the job.

I had to work everything out from scratch! Every wire for the computer and the knock computer!!!
I can't remember what colour was what now but I just worked my way through the diagrams and found the correct home for each wire. Any tricky/impossible ones I left until near the end. When I got back to them there weren't many possible places they could go to, so it was fairly easy to finish them off.
I am confident that you will be able to solve your problem!.... 2 wires left!

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

I can't help you with the wiring colours sorry, but I do know that the IGF wire runs back to the ECU to signal weather the last spark was successful or not. (IGnition Feedback)

This wire, if not connected, causes an interesting symptom - the car will fire and run for about 1 second, before the ECU shuts down the fuel pump... Apparently this is a toyota thing...

Not a bad one for a ignition kill on an alarm I say... Would make for quite a perplexing situation for the thief lol

Just having spent a bit of time looking at the diagram...
I don't think it matters what wire wire goes to rev counter or to the ecu as they both have spark info.

Don't think that applies to the 3T-GTE, fuel pump is switched by the airflow meter only.
