How do you fix engine run on

Postby bogjob_kp60 » Mon Aug 15, 2005 5:01 pm

When I turn my starlet off (4k twin carb) it shuders for a while. Its really anoying and sometimes imbarasing. Its done it so bad once that smoke started pouring out of the carberators. Iv been told to inspect the head and to sand sharp edges in the head. Before i go plowing on in there could someone confirm this?

Quick fix is to let it idol for a little bit before you turn it off, and it wont run on.

or if it diesels really bad and you cand be fecked cleaning all the carbon and crap off the pistons/head then stall it by leaving it in top gear and letting the clutch out.

Incorrect ignition timing, too rich mixture, faulty anti dieseling solenoid could all cause the problems you're describing. I'd be more inclined to look at the simple stuff before you pull the motor to pieces and start modifying it.
