Corona XL details

Postby Santa'sBoostinSleigh » Wed Sep 07, 2005 10:21 am

My mate is swapping/trading me his 1987 Corona XL soon and im just wondering what the hell all the details mean.

he emailed me last night with this:

bettys details are
toyota corona XL 1987
rego nd1105
Model STI5 0-T-tends-OTHd (not sure about this last letter its a bit dark
at the mod or an L)
533
engine 13-09-533441
Frame STI5 0 9011699

Kms 183920

(he named his car betty :p - so cute/ghey haha)
i *think* its a 1.8 carbie, NZ new.

its got home job tints(that need replacing), a stereo, cannon exhaust, alarm, front remote locking (its 4 door - we put a central locking kit in the front a couple of years ago), 15" mags which rub on the rear guards with ppl in the back, custom red (painted interior) - dont forget the seat covers, (massive bus size) steering wheel cover and seatbelt pads! (fu*k i hate those!)

so - question is - is it any good? what can i do to it? what motor is in it, what mods would be a good/easy upgrade etc?

It will be an ST150.

If it's 1800cc, it could be a 1S or a 4S motor.
LOUD NOISES!!!

Rust rust rust rust rust

Slow as hell, but should be relatively cheap to run. Engine ought to go damn near forever.

Buuuuuut, don't waste your money doing anything to it. Something like this, just buy it, run it into the ground, and ignore it until it dies.

My parents had one for donkeys years, and it was a tough old nail, other than requiring major rust work every six months.

took one with a 1S down to the drifting last weekend. as said, not really a power house, but I was impressed with the fuel mileage. didnt even use 3/4 of a tank from auckland, to rotorua, around rotorua for two days and back to auckland.
from a mechanical pov, also great to work on- everything in standard servicing is SOOOOO easy to get at.
oh, do good key poppers also! :)
