Gear box to fit 5k in ke25

Postby darkest_one_666 » Sun Sep 25, 2005 11:53 am

hey i was just wondering what gearbox would fit up to my 5k in my ke25 as my one sounds like it has shit its self which is a pain in the ass. ive heard starlet gearbox's fit up into it sweet, im not sure what is in mine currently as it was put in there before i got it and the center consol piece that come down between the 2 front seats had to be pulled out as the gearbox came forward to much, it is a 5spd. hoping to get another 5 spd for it so i was just wondering what gearboxes from certain cars i can use.

cheers

you can use the k50 from both starlet (kp61 etc) and ke70...

it will fit straight up, although im pritty sure if useing the starlet box you need to use the x memebr for that and you need to drill new holes for it to mount up as they are slightly different, and mayb increase the hole for teh shifter in your gearbox tunnel slightly, if it hasnt already been done so for the box in there now... i think..

you can also find a t50 bellhousing from a 5k corona (t40) and use a t50 if you really wanted to

Problem with that is you then need to use the hydraulic clutch or convert to cable.
Appaerntly there are some T50's with cable that bolt sraight into KP's, very rare tho.

Virtual: TA22 T50 is the rare one. I used 2tgeu in my ke35 with standard dshaft and ta22 t50 bolted straight in on factory mounts.

If its cable clutch its not a factory TA22 bellhousing, the T series cable clutch setup is pretty rare.

Nope, they were hydraulic as well, I think they were a van box or something. Very hard to find though.
