can i swap front wheels with rears?

Postby Dirtbag » Fri Sep 23, 2005 5:03 pm

Am i able to swap my front wheels to the back? One of my front wheels is currently getting repaired and the space saver is absoutly disgusting to drive on. If its for a week or so would there by any problems?

as long as all of the tread points (directionals) foward you will be fine (as long as your car doesnt have odd wheels or some other crazy setup!)

If you have a space saver you shouldn't be driving it around for a week, they are emergency use ONLY!!

If you have any spare 16" PIAA mags then sure as hell give them to me so I dont have to ride the space saver!

I have nothing else to put on the car, as the repair to the wheel was going to take a week (from last tuesday)

A space saver is designed to last 100k as far as i was told from defensive driving at the AA, any more than that you run a high risk of blow outs.

Purt it this way, you would never go for a WoF with a space saver on. So why drive for with one for more than you absolutely have to? Bottom line is your insurance and your car could be on the line, but you're the one taking the risk so your call.

Well, i aint got any other wheels, it wouldnt be my choice to run the space saver for the whole week, but I haven't got any other 4 studs wheels, and lack of money stops me from buying any.

I'd probably go to a wreckers or 2nd hand wheel place and get an old steel rim for a few bucks, might be even cheaper if you offer to give it back to them in a week.

Also, I'm not sure I would get my wheel repaired at a shop that would let me drive around for a week on a space saver, surely they'd have something they could lend you.

But then again, i'd say my car would be much worse on a space saver.

If you're still gonna use the space saver, don't go over 80kph and take corners like a granny, otherwise you'll be fixing more than just a rim.
