TRD coilovers.....rebuildable?

Postby aesc » Thu Sep 29, 2005 11:56 pm

Hi,

Well are they? Have heard some other brands are and and some arent. And what would actually need replacing when doing such a thing? Bit of a n00b here

Cheers

At about $4000/set new then yeah it is worth trying to get them rebuilt

I dont have any at the moment but Im looking at getting a 2nd hand set from overseas, except the condition of them is unknown so I want a contingency plan in case they are stuffed.

its kind of a must see the item thing.....
if the valves are stuffed then most likely not, if its just leaking seals then most probably yes.
but the suspension shop really needs to see them apart to determine if they are or not

Depending on which set it is, some will have replaceable inserts.
Contact either Revhead or myself directly and we can advise on this.
You're probably looking at around $300 per shock.

They are just the standard TRD coilovers for ae101 Super Strut.

They appear to be in good condition ie not leaking but yeah revalving or new inserts sounds expensive.

Thanks for your replies

A visual inspection is the best way of determining the problem and giving you a solution. :D

Yeah true, and I can see your point too  Im the same I prefer new over rebuilt with most things but in this case the cost is too much, my bank account would seriously kick my arse for it if I did
