AE101 FX-GT tyre size

Postby G-shock » Mon Oct 10, 2005 2:26 pm

Hey all,
Just wondering if someone can tell me what the standard tyre size is for a FX-GT AE 101.
Currently its got 205/55/15 which is wider than factory, I need some new tyres and want to compare diameters etc

Cheers

You should find the stock size on the label on your drivers door pillar, near the catch plate.

The alloy-equipped AE101 coupes have a stock size of 195/55R15

The 205 tyre sizes of 205/50R15 and 205/55R15 result in speedo reading 1.6% fast (i.e. you are travelling slower that speed indicated by your speedo) and 1.8% slow respectively.

215/50R15 is a "perfect" fit (speedo reads 0.1% slow)

It's probably better to err on the side of the speed reading fast (i.e. tyres that have a smaller rolling radius), but 0.1% fast is "bugger all"

Thats quite an interesting little calculator. :)

Here's the difference when I changed mine:

Specification - Sidewall - Radius - Diameter - Circumference - Revs/Mile - Difference
195/55-15 - 4.2in - 11.7in - 23.4in - 73.7in - 860 - 0.0%
205/40-17 - 3.2in - 11.7in - 23.5in - 73.7in - 860 - 0.1%

I thought there would be more of a difference between the two sizes but this says there stuff all in it. I guess the real difference would be the 'footprint' of the tyre being larger in size and the lesser sidewall movement that makes it handle better. :D
Your Opinion Means 1/16th Of Stuff All To Me So Dont Bother Arguing With Me About It As I Just Dont Care.

Thank-You.

There's a automotive meter place who do it, but their name escapes me at the moment.

If you are picking the right tyre sizes and keeping the rolling radius within 1 or 2%, there's no real need.
