KP Starlet questions.

Postby RomanV » Fri Oct 14, 2005 1:03 pm

Ive just picked up a 4 door KP60 with a 4K in it. :P

It is GREAT fun to drive. Nowhere *near* as fast as the MR2, but *far* more fun. :)
Anyway, I have a few questions.

1. The steering wheel sucks. Its like a thin peice of wire with plastic wrapped around it. :? Are there other Toyota steering wheels that will fit? Preferably something smaller and more rigid. And cheap.

2. The seats are CRAP. You cant go around a corner without sliding off your seat. Are there any other seats which bolt in, which are a little better? I think Ive heard of people using AW11 seats, or AE92 seats?

3. Do all K40/K50 gearboxes have the same gear ratios?

4. What diff ratios are there? Ive still got the low ratio diff that I think came with the 2k motor that was originally in the car.

Yeah... Nah. Just get a cheap one off Tard Me. I got one that was only $25 for mine and it came with a Boss Kit too. :D

Put them out and throw them away. Get some FX-GT seats or something as comfortable for replacements. I don't think they will just bolt straight in but you should be able to make new rails or adapt them to fit properly. :D

Pass. i dunno. :(

Pass again. I just use it for skids at the motorkana's mostly. :P If it breaks I have another one that is a donor car, same model, that I pull parts off. :D

For seats, can you weld? do a little fab? If not a good mechanic will be able to do it prob cost a couple of hours labour talk to them nice and you might get a deal  I have GTX seats in mine and its great :D
In the event of nuclear catastrophe, the only survivors will be Cockroaches and Toyota K series engines...

I believe K40's and K50's share the same ratios, and the auto diff's are the really low geared ones.
1988 KE70 Wagon - Slowly rusting
1990 NA6 MX-5 - because reasons
2018 Ranger - Because workcar
1997 FD3S RX-7 Type R - all brap, all the time
OMG so shiny!
