Group 7 oil filters

Postby fuel » Sat Nov 05, 2005 5:21 pm

ok so I was down at the local warehouse, and saw they stock oil filters. They are group 7 brand, but on the box I notice they are made by Purolator in the US.

They have one for my 2T (V4670 - same as Fram PH16 and Ryco Z10).

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them, and how they would rate/compare them to say Fram/Ryco filters.

A group7 filter is as good as any fram/ryco don't let the fact that the warehouse sells them put you off, I've used them many a time, even in race applications without any problems, the same cannot be said for ryco. As you said group7 is made by purolator & purolator filters are normally pretty good. But then if you wanted a decent filter you could always go K&N, system1,oberg etc.

Yeah I didn't let the warehouse put me off. This weekend supercheap has 25% off so I can get the fram filter for under $10 - whereas repco want $14 for a ryco.

My old car had a Group 7 filter on it and it seemed ok. I've actually heard some bad things about Fram lately.

As for K&N, I don't think they will be readily available like the Fram/Group 7 filters. I change my filters every 5,000kms so no real need to get an expensive one.

You know genuine ones are only about 15 bucks?

Ahh genuine - didn't even think about that. Just so used to getting aftermarket ones from repco, supercheap etc.
