s/c clutch seized

A bit more info might be nice. What car/engine? SC12 or SC14?

If its an SC12 from an AW11, AE92, or AE101, then you have to remember those engines range from 10 to 18 years in age, and are guaranteed to have been thrashed at one stage or another. Just get a new one fitted.

ae101 levin gtz therefore sc12.. Im getting another one fitted this weekend, but i am curious as to what might cause this cause i dont want it to happen again..

Yea, I'm thinking wear and tear. Remembering that they're electric and controlled by the throttle position, so when they engage, they go from no rotational momentum to spinning at whatever RPM they spin at at the relative engine RPM. Would be pretty harsh on it.

Of course, the fact that most people don't change the supercharger oil doesn't help either (most people don't even know it needs its own oil change). Make sure you get that checked when you have the new charger fitted.

if the clutch is seized, it wont have anythign to do with the oil.....

the supercharger oil only lubricates the gears in the opposite end to the clutch setup,
there is no lubrictaion in the drive end, ie sealed bearings.

id put it down to an age thing, they are similiar in design to an a/c clutch and they are well known for siezing and packing up.

so whas wrong with the clutch seizing? i thought it would have been a good thing s/c always on. or do you mean the whole s/c seized?

Economy is the main thing. But also, you wouldn't want it to still be creating boost when you take your foot off the gas to slow down

Priced up a SC12 for an AE92 GTZ oneday...thats what Toyotas price was...
