Yea, I'm thinking wear and tear. Remembering that they're electric and controlled by the throttle position, so when they engage, they go from no rotational momentum to spinning at whatever RPM they spin at at the relative engine RPM. Would be pretty harsh on it.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
