Just wondering if people know what should be run in these as it has a LSD. Not sure if they are shared or sealed or viscous or what. I have looked them up at work in the catalogs, called Castrol's helpline and then Toyota but still nothing conclusive.

They're viscous. Just use Castrol VMX or silmilar.

Have a search too, this has probably been covered a couple of times

Yeah done the search thing but turned up nothing useful. VMX is 80w I think from memory, I was goinf to go for 75w90 semi syn but well if the diff is viscous then it may affect it. What are others using in theirs?

Go for 75/90 if you wish. The viscous unit is completely sealed so for transmission oil just treat it as though it was any other manual.

Seriously? I was under the impression that all the GZE boxes were viscous. In that case, ignore me

Side note: I'm assuming the late model MAPed AE92s were viscous also then?

There is other possibility - Torsen...
Many people mistake Torsens with viscous.

Don't know about AE92 GTZ g/box (late ones from AE101 had plate LSD - try turning wheels in neutral opposite ways while jacked up) but my C160 has torsen in it, behaves similar to viscous but it is feels better (lack of lag)..

nah no torsens have ever been avalibile for that paticular box

if they wor id have one over the plate that i have in mine
much nicer lsd in concerns to not upsetting the car underpower or in braking

I spoke to palmside performance and they said they can get quaife ATB's "torsens" for the E51, E58 gearbox
