Wheel bearings... 350$ too much?

My wheel bearing gave in half way back frm napier.. i took it to the garage and the guy quoted me 350$ all up, do you think this is too expencive? Or does anyone know somewhere else in the wellington central area who is more reasonably priced?

Is that for all the wheel bearings or just for one?

If its all of them, then yea, thats pretty good. If for one, probably a third of that is for the replacement wheel bearing.....

hmm i did both my fronts on the 101 recently. from memory i think the bearings were about $90-120 plus watever labour you pay. they did have to try a couple of different bearings for my car as its got mutant parts all over it tho. my mechanic priced genuine ones at some silly price and found me the same bearing for much cheaper elsewhere.

Thats for just the front left to be done, 350$ still sounds a bit steap for just the one, i know theres a bit of labour involved, but it isnt anything out of the ordanary...

if hes useing a gunine part then it about right
some wheel bearings are fine
some can be a right c**t i.e frozen cv's $&#$% nuts etc

and trust me a cv that is seized turns a 5 min job in a absolute ordeal
especially when youve quoted and thus basically wnd up finishing it if 3 bucks a hour ...

hate to be devils advocate but i did price a genuine wheel bearing(one!) for a customer car on friday and it was about $700 excluding GST and labour.

that said, check what parts the mechanic is using, if its not genuine then the price seems a bit steep.
