Zenki axels shortening required?

Postby SKDTOY » Tue Nov 22, 2005 11:04 pm

Hi .I have a problem with my Zenki LSD conversion . Ive just fitted a Zenki LSD into my TE71 housing and is all good .But when I slipped the axels in they were 3.5mm to long as in the outter bearings were not fully home . So my question is,is this normal and do they require shortening ? I'll turn 4mm off them and see what happens . What do you think has anyone had this same problem?

Axels up date

Got it sorted sweet. Now this is how much i took off . I just ground more off till they fitted up sweet . REQUIRED REMOVAL OF (9MM) TOTAL . If i was to do it again i would get them lathed down but since i didnt know exactly how much to remove initialy .I did it gradualy with a grinder I know it sounds ruff but it good enough. TOTAL REQUIRED REMOVAL (9mm) FROM THE SPLINE. \ THE AXLE SHOULD MEASURE (560mm) FROM THE INNER SIDE OF THE STEEL OIL SEAL RETAINER/FITTING WHEEL BEARING END TO THE TIP OF THE SPLINE AFTER MACHINING.
