As far as n/a motors go they are up there.

20'vs can still sound good but the sound of that deep induction noise turned high pitch scream is awsome.

20 valves only sound good when they have been decompressed and boosted.
any small high compression engine with variable valve timing of some sort always sounds shit.

I personally, and I know a lot of people feel this way too - think good highly strung NA motors... even 4cyls sound quite cool. But I guess thats because the sounds that people find offensive are often a result of good flow - and I like hearing a nicely working motor.
