Subs + Amp

Postby 86_rolla » Sun Dec 04, 2005 9:03 pm

hey guys

Thinking of getting sum more doof doof for the rolla because im getting sick of a single 12. I was thinking of buying 2 12" JBL GTO1204D @ $99 each. Are these any good?

What amp will i need? Will the JBL GTO75.4 be alrite? for $339

Currently i have a Clarion DXZ846MC h/u which i think is all good and doesnt need replacing in the near future. Also i just have some Rockford Coax's up front will these suffice for the time being? because i want to go loud but i dont want to sacrifice sound quality for it, so will the subs absoluty over power the front's i.e they need replacing immediatly?.

Cheers guys, ima bit of a nobb at this shit but any help would be mint.
Peace out :D

hard to know what you mean by overpower. most car sounds i hear have overpowered bass which lowers the overall quality, but all those idiots think it sounds great!

in saying that you can just turn your subs down if they are too loud and get some more components later

I'm thinking of getting the same sub! but I was thinking a different amp..

I think those subs pump pretty well eh, I'm definetly getting one when I have saved enough money...

Get a strong sub + strong components and you'll be sweet.

It sucks when you got a car full of bass but no good speakers to hear the music from

I think the only problem you will have is when people sit in the car (if the coaxs are mounted in the door). Itll sound mint until you move your leg in front of the speaker or someone sits in the passenger seat and blocks the speaker. Thats the draw back of any coax speaker though. Only way to get over that is to go components.

From my experience with rockford coaxs, they are particularly harsh so i dont think the subs will drown them out.

yeh ok. Just had a look on the parallel site. Ive sorta decided may aswell upgrade the fronts while im at it. Im think either PBX, JBL, Infinity Reference or they had some soundstream coax's with seperate crossovers for $129 which was mint.

Cheers for the help guys
