Cops always right

Postby Emperor » Tue Dec 06, 2005 2:47 pm

Few weeks ago dad got a speeding ticket for doing 110 in a 100. Now, dad said he was only doing 90, and that it was foggy enough that the cop (300m or so) away would only just seen dad.
So dad took it to court, and his lawyer got a hold of the radar manual, and in the manual it states in thick fog the radar can read the wrong reading by quite a big margin.

So dads day in court was today, and guess what? He lost. They basically said that cops are always right, and their word is always best.

I believe my dad was only doing 90, he'd never take something to court if it wasn't worth it.

Oh, and while dad was giving evidence, the judge was too busy chatting with someone to listen.

Isnt it if you go up to 110 the police wont ticket you and only if your over that they will pull you over so you arnt really entitled to do 110.
And also if he was doing 90 and got ticketed for 110 why the hell not go to court , its not only the money but thats what like 20 demerit points aswell?

Agree

As for the court thing, it is to be expected.

It goes to show just how our system here works.
Like when a guy i know got busted for drugs. Only half of it made it to court. He knew he was going down so asked where the rest was. Cops got busted for taking it but nothing happened, basically got told not to let it happen again.

Haha, my Dad had got 2 speeding tickets and the third time he got pulled over he obviously knew the drill and before the cop said anything he goes, 'no, no and no' i.e did you know how fast you were going etc etc. Cop said it was the best line he'd ever heard and let the old man off. Classic
