dont really know a whole lot about ecus but the features in this seem pretty good. rrp is $2100.

motec is the best? how about Magnetti Marelli, Pectel, Bosch, Webcon, Zytek etc? Although most of their models may not be so suitable for road cars

AFAIK the link plus is on a similar level to Microtechs, which are cheaper.

That ECU ^^^ is probably comparable with the link plus, from what I've read on the link site... I have had zero experience with the link though, so can't comment. For the price, the microtech is a brilliant unit.

Heard plenty of horror stories about the link - but its not a bad ECU, its just the fact it was sold to anyone and everyone, and ANY ECU is only as good as the person tuning it. They are still in business and being used in many cars for a reason afterall.

is that because the guys that have them, havn't done their homework, or is it one of those 'friend of a friend of a friend who is supposed to be a expert' tales that get exageratted each time they are re-told?

there are plenty of race/rally cars running the Link units with great sucess, and if i remember correctly, the early Possumlink was better than the Prodrive supplied unit ,but Mr Bourne was obliged to run the Prodrive one as part of the contract.

i'm almost allergic to anything with wires and curcuit boards,so i have no ECUexperience, but all manufacturers must be producing a capable piece of kit, or they wouldn't still be in business, would they?.

It provided all the adjustability we needed in what was quite a high spec application that evolved throughout the four seasons.
Despite turning the car over a number of times and otherwise generally mistreating it, the Link gave faultless service.
As I've stated before, if they're good enough for Possum Bourne, they're good enough for me.
Like others have stated, it comes down to the people you employ for the install and setup.

yes i would agree with the fact that the computer is only as good as the person who tunes it but after speqaking to gizzmo when i was investageing ecu options i was told by them to stay away from link as theya re very seasonal and do not hold tune well where as wiuth a microtech i could get a much more reliable tune but this is again one of those arguement thats could go on for days as everyone has there own thoughts and options i think the best thing to do is do your own research and work out what product is best goin to suit your own needs. As forme im either goin to run a ems or a microtech when i go turbo later in the year. Also i know will with the crazy dx from d1 has also chosen to go microtech so ill keep you guyz informed on the progress of the rebuild of his car for the forth coming season should be intresting to see what kind o power the stock 3t shallmake with a nice ball bearing turbo and front mount with some bigger injectors and decnt tune

Thats a crock, I've had a LinkPlus in my car for close to 4 years, and its never fallen out of tune at all

Ok, here's how I see things. We stock and sell microtech as well as other brands, but I'm not out to badmouth any we don't sell.

Any ECU is only as good as the person who tuned it, and the car its on. You name ANY ecu brand, and I can guarantee there will be a) dozens of race teams using them with no problems, as well as private road cars, and b) shitloads of horror stories from bad tunes / not making enough power / whatever.

Talk to whoever you're going to get to tune the car, and go with what THEY have the most experience with, because thats the most crucial aspect of things - hell, its the first thing I ask when someone comes in and says "i want a new ECU" - "Whos tuning it".
