Adventures at VVEGA's

Postby KinLoud » Sat Jan 07, 2006 9:20 pm

Spent the afternoon at vvega's (Wayne).
Went there to pick up some brakes but you know how it goes...
Next thing I know, I've got a soldering iron in my hand and I am wiring up the coil packs (4 of them) as part of the effort to get the 1UZ V8 soarer (soon to be AW11 MR2) engine running. After about 1/2 an hour they were ready to be wired up to the link plus.
Then we had to go to Supercheap Cambridge for a heap of sparkplug leads (guess how many!).
When we got back, Wayne sorted out the firing order of the V8 and I got the mission of fuel supply...
When I first asked about this, Wayne said "oh we will just stick a fuel pump into a bucket of fuel!!!"
After about 3 seconds of thinking about this he came up with a better plan. We would use the AW11 fuel tank (that is out of the car at the moment), connect the tank to the fuel rail and give the in-tank pump some power.
When I went home Wayne was going to do a bit more wiring.
My instructions are to visit him again tomorrow and bring my video camera to record the engine running... it will be sitting on the floor, open headers and everyone hiding just around the corner!!!

The AW11 fuel tank and hoses leading to the engine.

The engine and the master craftsman (Wayne told me to say that!)

There is a small laundry in the corner of the garage. In the laundry is a Simpson esprit 750, 7.5kg washing machine.
Wayne got pissed off with how long the washing machine took to do a load of washing... so he stuck a bloody great front mount intercooler on it! Kelly (Wayne's partner) is now keeping an eye out for some high octane washing powder!!

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

HAHAHA! Well done. Nice touch with the washing machine.. however, from personal experience with firing up motors on garage floors, make sure you've got a decent fire extinguisher handy!

I'm sorry Wayne but I *Think* that we have surpassed the 24Hour period that we were promised before Christmas for the engine being running doesn't it?

I think Wayne owes a couple of us a FREE feed @ McD's!!!
