Hmm I will have to give them a ring. I think I will end up going with NAC as state seem to run off screaming when you lower your car. $1800 is pretty steep for the first year but I guess itll go down. I definatly dont want to drive the car without insurance.

luvnit, how long have you been insured for? Your premium works out to be $1080 a year which is pretty cheap, also what age are you?

Ahhhok. It is most likely pretty expensive because its the first time im insuring something and I wont have my full for very long when I actually get around to getting the car. I will give Insure Direct a ring tomorrow and get a quote from them.

Yea my FXGT is under my dads name and I think im the named driver (I hope?) Ive had that insured for a year and have already had a 30% no claims bonus nocked off. Not too sure though. Thats with AMI and I think they will probly be pretty tight arsed aswell when it comes to modifying it.

1800 per year works out to 5$ per day,

so imagine waking up in the morning, putting 5$ in your car just so you can safely make it move. 5$ you probably wont get back. ever.

12K could see you in my car 8) 196 rear wheel kilowatts prior to the side mount intercooler & power fc ecu (should be good for 220 rwkw with a tune). 4 months ago I had the cambelt, water pump, tensioners, idlers, and thermostat all replaced, it drinks ZERO oil, is in minit condition. Best bang for your buck for sure! Im in Wellington too ;)

Your insurance quotes sound really high.....have you tried via a broker?? The TT VR-4 we sold recently was to a 21 year old male with no previously insured cars...he had prices like yours till I reccomended a couple of brookers. Mine is insured currently & there may be an easier/cheaper way to use the exact some person I use via my brooker, then it's really just the age effecting the price as she doesn't really understand about mods so just lists them as I add them

Cheers

if you go type R you will automatically have flags coming up with the insurance cos, especially at your age
same with a silvia etc, even if its non turbo, some munter will want it 'for a drift car auu'
plus they are all hot list type cars that will probably get stolen, stripped and burnt out

john rae insurance broker

pioneer insurance 0800 pioneer

I'll definatly second that, the curren is nice as a car that will give you celica specs(basically a celica with different body), but more likely to pass under the radar as they are less popular(in a good way).

I had one as my first "decent" car, and it took a 110,000km thrashing, and kept going(I bought it with 70km, sold with 180) I met the "new" owner, and he has just ticked it over 265km.

If my wife(girlfriend of the time) had liked it, I would never have sold it(yep, whipped)

Just rang Pioneer Insurance and they seem to be the cheapest so far. $12000 96 Integra Type R lowered with exhaust $1k worth mods for $1350 a year. Certainly cheaper than NAC and the person I talked to was alot better.

So with the insurance broker, Should I just give them a ring and get a quote? Or do they go through the companies and get me the best deal?

He's my insurance broker too. I have the road car (boringwagon) and the club car insurance arranged through his company. Very good to deal with I have found.
