Still beats my new Ferrari at 2600kgs, but I'd be willing to bet my Ferrari will out handle it (at least for what I use it for), and it sure as hell will cut the grass a lot quicker

FWIW here's the reason I won't be buying a new F599 (in the near future anyway).

Now isn't that a more appropriate comparison for the Viper

hmm i doubt that viper could even do its claimed top speed anyway , if it did i doubt it would be very stable.
i remember reading about all the hassle they had to go through to get the veyron to achieve its top speed.they nearly had to redesign the thing. from memory once it reached a certain speed, it required a certain amount of power to go every 5mph faster or something , and it wasnt a small number :?

go the tractor , its much cooler than all of em

lol, gotta love thos low profile tyres, 32 speed transmission (16 forward/16 Reverse), 2700rpm redline, 40km/h top speed, probably do a sub 10 1/4 mile (minutes that is  ). Only downside is that it costs as much per HP as a F599 and, no it's not made by Ferrari Spa, the company that makes these tractors has been around for a lot longer than Enzo has been making cars

That was before they started running 550's in the series, now it can't even make the top 20

Actually that's a bit misleading, the Viper runs in GT2, the 550 runs in GT1 and I will admit that the Viper has the most wins of any model in FIA-GT racing. However as we're comparing the 550 and it's sucessors to the Viper, I'll let those results speak for themselves...

EVL GSXR - if you don't stop using apostrophes in plurals I'm going to hunt you down and kill you! 8O

There's an excellent book I think you should read, it's called 'Eats, Shoots and Leaves' by Lynne Truss. :)

I'm sure, being the tractor that it is, the Viper has provision for PTO, so a mower shouldn't be an problem for it

Sure is bad taste, how anyone could see beauty in that beast is beyond me. Although I will admit it is an Icon alright, an Icon of ugliness that is :P

Nope, 6th generation Kiwi. BTW I believe the is only one "m" in the acronym "pom", so perchance you are referring to something other than my heritage???

I'd rather have the Ferrari myself, but Vipers sound damn cool....idiotically large motors do have their merits :D and 335/35/17 tyres are likewise cool :D

I thought that 'pohm' was an acronym for 'prisoner of her majesty'?

Although after a quick search, perhaps I am wrong!

Have you seen one of those original vipers lately. They were cool when they came out , ages ago. But i saw some pictures of one recently.
Looks kind of like a bad 80s styling project.
And then the new one, its huge and in a few years time the styling will look :(
