Hey guys, I have an ae82 fxgt,
I'm sure lots of you guys have sounds in your car,
so does any one know the easiest/best way to route wires etc. through the firewall as I want to wire an amp, (but want 2 x 8ga to fit).

In my AE82 FXGT I used a knife to nip a hole in a rubber gromet and put the wire through (4ga, it wasnt easy). I used a gromet on the right hand side of the engine bay and rand it to under the front passenger seat. Pretty easy job. May have to take a plastic cover off under the glovebox depending on if yours has one.

where was the first rubber grommet that you used the knife on?
On the firewall side?
As mine has plastic all over the firewall so I dont know where to put it.

I put mine throu the loom hole.

Is the loom hole the one near the top?
If it is then it's way too small to fit 2x4ga

and my firewall has like a plastic mould all over it so I can't see the metal at all.

Weird? Try peeling it back where there are some wires going through it, there will most likely be a gromet there.

Ahhok is it black cardboardy sorta crap? Mine only has a little bit of it. Should be sweet to cut a bit out around the gromets.

Anyrough idea on where I should hack away at MINTFX?
I know it's on the passenger side of the firewall, is it near the top/bottom?

A good guide is often to look engine-side instead of cockpit-side, look for cables that go through the firewall then try to find the inside part of the same thing,

I ran a cable through just by forcing it into an existing gromet on my AE82, no problems. The caldy I had to drill a new hole and fit a gromet of my own, though... newer cars are a biatch for this.

Had a quick scope around and couldn't find anything large enough in the open. So there must be decent sized holes behing the plasticy crap, I want to do minimal chopping so if anyone could give me a description of where a factory hole is that would be cool. As stated above I know it's on the passenger side but where exactly should I be looking at chopping it away?

Esp given youre dealing with fairly large cable, might be better off scoping where you can drill a new hole and gromet it yourself instead of looking for a Factory Hole. Becuase you'll see all the factory holes engine side anyway...

I am looking from the engine bay side, I always have been. The problem is there is a very large plastic/cardboard type cover that goes over the actual firewall itself.

Tkae the passangers side wheel off, unbolt all that plastic arch pannel, you may find a way throu behind there.

I drilled an extra whole, put a grommet in it.
