alarm not working

every since i got a new battery my alarm siren has stopped working

ive tested the siren, it goes but when hooked up in the car it doesnt, ive looked at the wiring on the siren, inside etc and it seems fine and have tried looking at it from under the bonney but im cluseless..

Help.. everything else works but the siren.

who changed the battery?

check the siren is set to "on / loud" etc, coz otherwise when they remove the battery, the alarm goes off (so theyll turn the siren off), but maybe forgot to turn it back on (should should have a special little key)

My mumz boyfriend did it when i was at work and he didnt touch the alarm, just replaced the battery as asked.

Does the siren have a key switch? Or any kind of switch? Check that any parts of the alarm on the interior dont have switches too, sounds like theres one somewhere.

No switch on the siren..

Ive tried the little red switch mounted under-neath the dash on the car but no luck.

is there any voltages coming from the alarm brain to the siren?

Unfortunatly i dont have a volt meter so i coudlnt tell..

Any other alternative ways of checking?

Break the wire and stick your tongue on both ends...

2 pieces of wire and the light bulb out of your domelight

it will either be a) positive all the time and earth switching from the alarm

or

b) negative all the time (earthed to the body of the car) and positive switching from the alarm (most common type)

firstly strip back each of the wires going into the siren,

in a) earth the bulb (either end dont matter) and get the other end and touch it to each of the wires individually. it should light up for one of them and the siren will sound very softly on the other. if there is positive on neither take the earthed end of your bulb to the positive terminal of the battery and again test each individually. if it sounds softly you have a siren wired as below in b) if it doesnt try arming and disarming the system with the test bulb on each wire individually. it should flash in time with the chirps on one of the wires. if it does it is a)

in b) you will be able to identify it easier than a) as the siren will have a ring terminal or the like on the end of it that will be taken to the body somewhere (most diy instals they are jammed under one of the mount screws) if this is the case place your bulb wire again to an earth and the to the non earthed wire. arm and disarm the alarm. it should flash like it would normally chirp.

solutions.
if a) and there is no positive to the siren check all the fuses you can find. it is probably the positive feed having a blown fuse.

if b) it can be a few things. bad earth to the siren. try relocating the earth (sand a small area of paint around where it contacts the body to get a better connection) or again it could be a blown fuse. some alarms have fused siren outputs so check all that you can find

if these solutions dont work you may have blown the output from the alarm system.
