Competitor Coaching, Levin, Feb 19th - I put the wrong date!

Postby Leon » Mon Jan 30, 2006 9:55 am

HCCC is running a competitor coaching day at the Levin paddock for people keen to try, or improve at Autocross and Motorkhana events.

In a very small nutshell, we put you out in your car, with an experienced driver sitting in the passenger seat, and we help you go faster.

No experience needed, but helmet and overalls are going to be used during the autocross section of the day.

Usual turn up by 10 am, and we'll scrutineer the car, and then get on with the day.

Not finalised, but I think we'll only be charging $10. If that changes I will let you know.

Can be a fun day for anyone from the most inexperienced driver on up. No pressure to go any faster than you are comfortable driving at, it's totally up to you how hard you want to try.

Donnelly Park, Levin. The usual paddock.

How rough is the paddock? If its not too bad id be keen, as my tires rub the gaurds and it hits the bumpstops pretty easy.

Its a paddock, if your car rubs on the road then its gonna be worse in the paddock, thought that was a no-brainer really

Got any 14's to put on it instead? Is lots of fun, i'll definatley be there :D

If you're getting guard rub because it's low you're going to have issues. If you're getting guard rub because you're running 17's, then as B1 says, get some 14" with some tread on them and come play.

helmet (fairly new)
overalls (100% cotton - most workshop overalls can't be used as they're polycotton)
tighten down battery (8/10 first time competitors have a very loose battery clamp)
if you don't already have a big red plastic thing on the positive terminal of your battery, then tape it up with insulating tape.

Good point 8) No way the Corona would make the ground clearance, and unless a miracle happens over night there is no way the KE would have the engine in by then, so shout now if you need help Leon and I'll check the sched 8)

Thanks for the offer guys, but driver training days are pretty low demand for any volunteers other than the trainers themselves. I think we should be pretty sweet, but by all means, rock on up if you want to have a nosey.

Or borrow somebodies car...
