ah good to hear!
kp60 = 2k
kp62 = 3k
kp61 = 4k
(callum said so) :P

more often than not the kp61's have a U series 6" head and larger splined axles but in your case it's not so. the other kp's often have an X series 5.6" so a good chance of interchangeability. if you swap head size you'll have to swap matching axles too.

imo, i prefer to swap just the head. i dont like disconnecting the brakes requiring to rebleed em, or handbrake cables etc. timewise its likely quicker changing whole lot. i like to check a new diff head before it goes in and do oil change etc, check seals and fix any leaks... for the sake of reliability. and at least i know the brakes are in good working condition.

you shouldnt need to pull the brakes apart at all to take the axles out. the axle retaining plates are able to twist past the brakes without removing anything.

Yep, I replaced mine the other day... but in my corolla.

I like replacing only the diff head, cos then you know your brakes and your wheel bearings and all that jazz are sweet.

My old diff, a couple of the teeth fell off the spidergear.... Do you think you could weld up the spidergear so it won't turn so those missing teeth won't be a problem?

Well last night scored the diff, and chucked it all in..no fuss rtv sealant on diff bolted it on filled with diff oil.
took about 2.5 hours which was not too long for a first timer i guess. had to bleed the brakes today cos they were spongy as!

All good starts fine and now i can give the ol' 4k a thrashing... diff feels awesome .overall, its not that hard to change a diff, changing the diff head looked easier than changing a whole diff unit as you would have to remove springs etc...

thanks for all the help guys!! :D :D
