i need help about celica gt4 (ST205)

Postby zzokojoa » Wed Feb 08, 2006 1:39 pm

hi. my car engine is broken as few days ago.

i can't not get same engine of my car.

someone who know which engine possible to into the st205 and how much cost is it?

[Moderators help]

Appears to be a ST205 that has sucked via the filter 1L of water or the water to air IC has given somehow. Seems to be due to rain on the road and the water has been sucked in via the Air Filter

Causing damage to 1 / 3 pistons ( well the bore )

What is exactly broken on your engine?
I'm sure ST185 is far more common than ST205 (and cheaper), I asume you have ST185. Just give e-mail to Mr Revhead (see sticky in parts for sale section). He can organise you a nice deal.
I was quoted for complete 205 engine in Japan $3000 plus shipment...
It is best to use wiring loom and ecu off 205 with the 205 engine.
I would preffer to have ST205 (it is more of an upgrade than a repair).

If you give people more information they might be able to help you better and provide you with some contacts as to where to go to try and source an engine in your area and how to import or get one imported and delivered for you.

1. Location
2. Model of car
3. What exactly is wrong

If the ONLY problem is just the pistons then why don't you just chuck some forgies in it?

Where are you located?

How did you come to the conclusion that the problem is with the pistons in the first place?

Did you take it apart to find out or did a mechanic do it for you? If a mechanic took it apart he should be able to tell exactly what the problems with it is other than pistons.

zzokojoa - would be a good help for those trying to help you with this if you clearly stated what happened and what you were doing at the time your engine broke.

Also would be handy to know who you have spoken to and or what they have done in trying to find out what the problem is.

Will make life much easier for others to help you out and will speed up the process too 8)

few days ago there was water on the road after the rain.
i was drive on the road and water came into the engine via airfilter.
After that, the engine's dead and didn't boot up.

my mechanic said the pistons are broken and the engine inside has scratched.
if i change all pistons then there will be no guarantee even if engine is working or not.

A bit of water in the intake would not scratch the bore or piston so i suspect somthing else did it.

Did the car stall/cut out on you or did it just not start up again?

What sort/year GT4 is it?

it's 1994 celica gt4 st205.

mechanic took the car engine out of it and disassembled it.
In fact, the water which came into the engine was not just a bit of water, its huge amount he said.(about 1 litre)

You got 1l of water into your motor via your air filter from driving on a wet road??

Are you on the burns?

If there were stones in the water picked up from the road i dare say it would cause scratches but how the heck do you suck up enough water for that?

I would think a smallish amount of water would evaporate in the head of the engine so there would allmost be like driving into a lake, then reversing out. :O.

If its a ST185 i would imagine it would be easyer and cheaper to just call the car a write off and buy a new one from trade me.

Heres one for $1500 ( approx ) apparnatly

WTF, you were running an air filter wasnt you?? how would 1L of water launch its self throu the turbo, it would have to be over a very long time period, but then it would burn up into steam the second it hit spark...
