Heat setting off alarm

Postby wde_bdy » Mon Feb 13, 2006 3:00 pm

Anyone else had problems with the heat setting off their car alarm? On hot days my car keeps false alarming and I am having trouble tracing the cause as it is an intermittent problem.

Alarm Details –
Uniden VS2600XR
Professionally installed
Microwave sensor
Glass break sensor
Door, bonnet, boot protection
Pretty sure it is not an issue with the door, bonnet or boot switches as when it happens interior lights do not come on and when I unplugged the bonnet switch it still falsed. Will even false alarm with windows down so I don’t think it is a build up of pressure in the car due to the heat. Rear half of car is tinted, however front doors are not and it does get quite warm inside the car.
Very hard to troubleshoot as its intermittent and I never seem to have a screwdriver handy to get to the sensors when it does go off. Have spare glass break and microwave sensors from the project car so will try those but will be hard to tell if they help unless I stand next to my car all day whenever its warm.
Any other suggestions or if you’ve had a similar problem would be helpful.

I have the same alarm, no problem with heat though.
My car has no tints, or anything to keep it cool and it gets bloody hot inside sometimes, but it has never had any false alarms. My shock sensor etc are not that sensitive though so a soft boot to the car won't set it off but closing a door of hatch will.

may be that the glass break sensor is up too high.... and the heat causes the dash etc to "creak" thus setting off the sensor

alternatively the heat waves etc coming off the roof could trigger the m/wave but is less likely. try unplugging the m/wave and testing it for a while and see what happens

I've got teh same problem.. the heat sets off my alarm too, i'm not sure if it's the glass-break or the micro-wave sensor... but it starts beeping when it gets quite warm, then goes off when super hot inside... so I'm guessing its more related to the microwave sensor.

Just remember. You can check the LED to find out what zone set off the alarm. This should help to narrow down the search...

Once had a car which the shock sensor was set off by the heat... Never figured out exactly what was happening. I suspect it was due to a low quality component or a bad solder joint moving as it heated up.

I don't claim to know everything... That doesn't mean it isn't true....

uniden VS2600XR only has one sensor port plug. therefore the m/wave and the glass break etc all trigger the same zone...
