ToySpeed vs. Southern Skylines @ Levels

Yes i've read everything. Either i'm not understanding it or you're not explaining it well enough for me. Probably the former. ;)

And i never said anything about cancelling an event?

'Scuse my ignorance, but what does resource consent have to do with whether you're allowed to open the racetrack or not? Noise? Traffic?

And like i said before, i mean 'open' as in being used. Whether it be by car clubs, manufacturers, driving schools, motorsport events (NZ V8 Touring cars/Porsche GT3/Super Trucks etc) and anything of the sort.

no you didn't, but we did.it's all about profitability, speaking of which, if we don't get enough entries on the 11th March, that date will be given to the highest bidder. every event run on Levels needs to be run like a business, if it runs at a loss, there are plenty of other potential users that can make it pofitable.

certain people move to the rural areas for peace and quiet, knowing full well there is a racetrack/airport/gravel pit etc nearby. they then lobby the area council for noise reduction so they can enjoy their latte's and cappucino's whilst reading the Wall St Journel and only have to put up with the birds chirping. these same PC wankers, get restrictions placed on neighbouring farming activities, hours in which contractors can cut hay/silage and moan their asses off when a mob of neighbours sheep/cattle baa or moo too much.

due to our resource consent, we have restrictions as to what days the track can be used, and what activities can be done on those days. at one of the big V8/truck meetings a few years back, the event was running behind schedule. the club president had to get special permission from the mayor's office for the racing to continue after 5pm, we then had to get an extension to our resource consent (more$$$$), to allow a full programme of racing to be run if there were delays during the day.

assuming that we would be in the same class, I'll step up as a FWD driver :)

if you guys are going to continue to prattle complete and utter drivel, how about you put the money where you mouth(keyboard) is and bring it on. we have given dates, and the March 11 event will be more orientated towards cornering ability rather than outright speed.

I mean they weren't that close just arse hole's his old neighbour's never complained..

I had a feeling it would have to do with noise.

Those sort of people annoy the hell out of me, ruined racing at Western Springs as well from what i've heard.

at least WesternSprings had near-on full council backing. it wasn't until recently that an economic study was done that estimated the annual return to the SC district that the raceway brings in, and we're not talking just a few hundred thousand$$.

potentially this figure could have been doubled, had the constraints not been put in place.

It's not about winning, its about having an awesome time.
It's not all about power either, it's about a balanced setup and wether you can drive. I managed 34th out of 60 at the track day last year. My car makes all of 110hp at the wheels yet I was within 0.5s of a S6 RX7, an EVO and a skyline. I beat 3 skylines, a supra, an XR6 and a few other cars making alot more power :)

Let's me put it another way for you.

It is Illegal to use the track for more than 5 sunday per year,
and more than xx many saturdays per year.
( not 100% sure on the sat exact number but it's not many)

T3h sux0urz. :|

I agree with you JT, when i eventually take the GTS-4 on the track (or the GTS-25 when i get it) i'll probably be beaten by Daihatsu Midgets (mini one seater truck thingy's, with about 15-20 hp or so)! But i won't be going there to thrash the living daylights out fo the car as i'd still have to get home in it. 8O

I dunno how you can disgrace the oldschoolness of your car and put a silly 20V in it. Wanky engine :P Go 16V's.
I dont care bout straight line speed (got none to care about), corners are more fun. I thrash it around corners quite tightly**, suprised it turns so well on crappy tyres  Maybe Ill give it some track business if I ever get around putting my 4AGE in.

cheaper tyres are often just soft as hell to keep up the grip factor, if you heat them up even more by pushing them hard, they become softer still, put a set of space savers on the car, and go for a spin on a track, it'll be fun till you've done ~5km*, then it'll take a bit more of your attention to keep it on the track.

*assuming small to medium car with fairly average space savers.

If you where on 10-15 year old retreads with absolutly no ability to grip in the wet, then yes.

Winters gonna be intresting, should get new mags/tyres at some point.

Oh man
Dj dont believe everything ur told as gospel aye! I know u dont know much about cars so I wont be harsh but please try goin for a ride in a 20v and a 16v. there really aint much difference(20v maybe has more revs, hp difference is neglible in standard engines). And hav u even watched initial d? The AE86 in it gets a race spec silva top dumped in it instead of the old tech 16v. What do u think is better? I tend to trust the japanese since they have been buildin and tuning these cars and engines for longer than anyone! Please remember they invented driftin!

And back 2 the topic. im up for this event on march 11! Even with my 3au! I just luv corners way too much 2 miss out! is that gonna be this year fangsport? Oh an everyone stop bein so soft! do wot mustangman is doin an just hav a little fang! u will still luv it and hopefully not breakanythin! We all need the practice and we all like to brag so think about it. U cant brag if u dont race!

Stop talkin the talk and start walkin the walk pussies!
