The problem is that a lot of the FOS thing in Dunedin is a family show, and f'all would notice any mods done to a levin or corolla... The cars I've seen at the toyspeed meets are... gonna get reemed for this... boring to say the least.

Mines no better either.
They're all cool cars, but not exactly "OMFG did you see that car" status.

If anyone wanted to enter some cars, I'd put mine up, but I don't see it as being "that good" to put a bunch of fairly average cars out there as "Toyspeeds best" so to speak, as thats how they would be perceived.

I understand wot u mean. But these cars dont come to the meets much at all and none of them are fwd. Im talkin old skool rollas and levins rwd only bro. an mustang mans right just a club display not a car show cause it aint one! U would be suprised how many family types have owed and still luv their old toyota they had 20 or more years ago?

Chur mang. :|

There are at least five or so cars (mine included) in the SSE display which don't fall into that '"OMFG did you see that car" status' you wrote. The best thing about the SFoS car displays is that your car does not have to be show car quality (i.e. something more than suitable for AutoSalon), it just has to be clean, with no primer paint.

You could possibly put up a display in just over a week, as there is more than enough room on the field - i have contact details for an organiser if anyone is interested.

Im interested but im gonna need help and some toyspeeders with pride and a clean car! I can probably get 1 x worked starlet, 1 x worked ke30,1 x ke36 turbo, 1 x te74 wagon, 1 x AE85.9 levin, 1 x AE70 notchback,AE70 sedan, 1 x te71 levin coupe and im sure there are more but u fwd might wanna enter some. And soulhaven where r u?

Nothing wrong with angry old men!!

I don't think that you need a whole lot of show quality cars for a display at the FOS just a few straight ones.

If you had a half dozen fast and furious type cars likely all that would happen is the general public would see it as a pack of boy racers blah blah blah and maybe harm the image of toyspeed a bit??

If their was a group of fairly normal cars their would be a much greater chance of people seeing it as a grooup of people who just care about their toyotas.

I read the article about the club in the community newspaper last year and was impressed by it, it put the club in a good light.

I would think that it is to late to try and organise anything this year though perhaps we should consider it for next.

Well take a look at our one, if it turns out to be a success it will hopefully be bigger and better next year. :)

Even just having a couple of cars there is okay occording to the organiser i'm dealing with, so i say go ahead with a ToySpeed display if it isn't too late. I've given cozmoid the contact details.

If you do manage to get one up, might pay to make a sign, or licence plate covers or something else which tells people what car club they are looking at. :D

Take a look at this page to find out a little more.

[quote]That's the same with Beachlands/Island Park Speedway though. Used to be about $8 for an adult, then went up to about $15 (which is when i stopped going).

Think about it, a few hours racing around in circles for $15 or so [quote]

ive just come back from racing in palmy nrth and its $35 to get in on a normal night and $40 if something big is on, now have a whinge

Okay, just rung up the organiser i'm dealing with and here's what he had to say;

1. The more cars there the better, more car clubs there the better etc (it is NOT too late. cozmoid - ring Matt on 470 3030.
2. You can sell cars there, but should only put the for sale sign on the back seat (so it is discreet - he's done it himself before to a Mercedes and ended up getting a couple of enquiries).
3. Drivers of cars for display do not have to pay anything, passengers do. That may not seem fair, but he told me that people have come before and taken advantage of the fact cars got in for free (i.e. a Falcon come once with five people in it who all got in for free - it isn't really fair so they changed the rules a bit). He says that drivers shouldn't have to pay to display their cars, as they are doing the event a favour!
4. Drifting on the circuit - should have asked a month or so ago before the days schedule of racing was planned out, it is so jam packed this year that they've had to drop the part where the girl guides hold up the car numbers before the start of the race. With Jim Richards and Robbie Frankevic being there for a new ten lap race (or something) it will be pretty busy.
5. He says to meet up around the Tokyo Auto Town area at 8:30am so you all go in together.
6. He's reserved a place for Southern Skylines between the Mercedes-Benz display and Jaguar display.

I think that is about it - he's sent out the map etc today so i might have more info to give when it arrives.

And for those who may be put off by having to pay $10 to get in the gate - i'm sure you'd happily spend that $10 elsewhere without noticing, so what difference will it make? (sorry, but it just bugs me a little when people complain about such small things).

Like 2 big macs that will rush out your back door as soon as you leave maccas..?

10$ is nothing for the amount of fun to be had. Sadly my work falls right on the event :(

Oh yea back to the point ill be there no doubt it got to be the best race event in dunnas. watching the cars from the southeren sports car club lifting the left front wheel on the chicane at the bottom of maitland street. very cool.

Cozmoid ill see you there no doubt at all cant wait man.

Shame gareths CRX blew up.

( i know its a honda but 158 BHP from a standard 1600 v-tech running a link pulling 9000 in a car that weighs just ova 600kgs. pretty fun. Oh and its being converted to RWD.)

PS i still hate hondas. just cant deny a good engine when i see 1.

Have to say this sorry, but i get the impression that most people here prefer making up excuses rather than actually doing something (not naming/referring to anyone, so no-one should take any offence).

I'm glad someone finally took the initiative to find out about getting ToySpeed a display, rather than waiting for someone else to do it. If i had this attitude over at SSE then there would most likely only be a couple of meets a year, rather than one a month or more.

I'm not just talking about the FoS either, you guys have to stop the excuses as it just seems like you're not interested in the club. :|

it be so cool if we could have a toyspeed held burnout comp.
or drags.

were would i be able to organise something like this?

As to the coment above i agree but we all want to do some cool shit just doing it legal can be overwhelming. its easier to do burnouts in outram or somewere hidden away from the coppas
