at the end of the day really, the truck was ahead of the mr2 and he should have been paying attention to the hazards around.

Do you pass a truck thats turning? I sure dont! even if its on a bend on a motorway. trucks are large and easily can get out of control.

Yeah, on most pieces of road the right hand lane is the outside, but in the case of a roundabout, its different.

But I see where you're coming from,
Inside/Outside lane could be debateable on any bent piece of road I guess.

anyways... i have my revenge. and it took out a mitsi... 2 birds with one stone! shame it was that perticualr mitsi tho and not another one, could have been 7 birds with one stone... ohwell... cant win em all

insurance emailed me before to say that they are paying out and are chasing down the truckie now

Isnt the general rule for most things if it hits your drivers door your in the wrong.

How can there be damage to the left side then?

and if the truck was in front of you shouldnt you have given way...

if this is looked at by the insurance company there is very very very slim to none chance you will be paid out.
ive checked this with the people at work (working at an insurance company and all)

Looks like it was your fault mainly so i dont see the insurance company paying out.

Please tell me when you are driving next as i will endeavour to stay off the road at this time.
I mean wt,f he got hit on the left side? that means the truck was hit on the drivers side, the truck then being at fault.

Im sure the insurance company will be like "oh so a truck ran you over? yeah ummm.... we dont cover trucks running you over sorry!"
Of course they are going to pay out.

ok i did not realise that the inside outside lanes changed at a roundabout compared to a motorway, this is where i will admit i got confused. i have resolved this now.

I was not taking a stab at anyone, i checked it with my work and if this had happened then there is a very high chance that you would not have been able to get a payout for this.

at the end of the day really they were both to blame. im not saying its one sided here and not trying to annoy anyone.

Normally a truck will approach the roundabout and take up 2 lanes before the giveway sign (so they sit in the middle of both lanes)

Then they don't have worry about cars on the inside of them when going around the roundabout

Yep sure is, never seen anything in the legislation which entitles trucks to cross into an occupied lane in any circumstances, regradless of how hard they are to drive around corners.

Legally speaking that is true, which is probably why insurance is paying out for Pie.

However, the first thing I learned at defensive driving was to avoid putting myself into a situation where I could be involved in a collision. In the 11 years I've had my licence I've lost count of the number of times I could have had my car written off by some idiot. It doesn't matter if the car/truck/bus shouldn't be there, if you can tell it will then your best bet is to make sure you're not there at the same time.

yeah they are pretty scarey i was going passed one this morning and they were trying to go into my lane! its also causes people to speed to get passed them
they should have truck roads that only trucks can go on or something

then car drivers would wanna use them. they would be low gradient slopes to minimise fuel consumption...

what they should do is tunnel the Bombays - now that would be alot better. so slow due to heavy vehicles and the amount of fuel/energy used to get up and over them would be massive!!!

i travel on the open road quite a lot and have come across quite a lot of dodgy truck drivers. example: after just getting my sr coupe back on the road I had a truck driver nearly take me out...

we were going up a hill with a passing lane and there was truck #1 at the front, truck #2 and me.
I pulled out into the righthand lane right from the very start of the passing lane and as I started to get my speed on and get alongside him he just indicated and pullled straight into the passing lane to pass truck #1!
i ended up ringing the cops and they came and got him and asked me to pull with them; so when I pulled up across the road the truckie jumps out and comes accross the road at me and pulls my door open and spends the next 5 minutes yelling and abusing me saying how much of a rude b@stard I am and how I was flying up behind him (i wasn't doing anymore than 100km).

and last weekend I was on my way to palmerston north and had a truck infront of me through all the windy bits of road between taupo and turangi...he spent more time cutting blind corners and on the wrong side of the road than he did on the correct side!!

i'm not slamming all truckies or anything but there are definitely some bad/stuck up truck drivers out there.
