Event at levels March 11 2006

Postby matt dunn » Wed Feb 01, 2006 11:40 pm

For those who are interested there is an event coming up at levels that is suitable for people to enter in standard road cars with the normal safety gear.

This is not a drag or a drift event.

Kinda like a triathalon with three events on the day all on tarseal.

First one uses the pits, pit lane, and front straight to make a track,

Second if a full lap of the full track,

Third is a really cool track known as the go kart track or top loop.

This is not a large event with usually a small number of competitors
so would be good for someone who is just getting into motorsport.

There is no gate fee as there is not normally enough spectators to justify someone on the gate so is "free spectator entry".

Anyone interested can PM me for more info, or wait and i'll post more details here in a few weeks.

Ollie, there are many things you need to learn in life.
1. if you don't try, how can you then fail or succeed?
2. essentially, you're only out there to impress yourself and your first run won't be your fastest. if you do well, we'll be impressed, if you don't do so well, analyse why, and try to improve on your earlier attempts.
3. so what if you have a few spins and end up last, you're still out there having a go.
4. what makes you think you'll get 'owned' or 'shamed'? my young friend had the same attitude for last years event, he wasn't last, and had the most fun he has had in ages, and drove his car home in one piece.

If you are a first timer, then this is exactly the sort of event you should enter. There will be bugger all peple there to watch as the 4 & Rotary show is on in CHCH on the same day.

Hi again,

Just been to a Car Club Meeting and we have been told that we are no longer able to get around the club membership rule.

This means that to do this event on March 11th 2006 you will be required to be a member of an affiliated MSNZ club,
which can be
South Canterbury Car Club,
Canterbury Car Club,
Ashburton Car Club,
etc etc.

As our membership year ends at the end of April the fee to join our club is 1/2 price, but will still expire at the end of April.

If you are still keen to have a go let me know as we will probably have to organise it before the event.

most of those that entered had a really good day , with 4 runs at the first course and 3 runs on the second course.

special thanks to Ollieboy for coming down and not getting 'owned' or 'shamed', and proving you don't need anything special to enter these events and have some fun.

Yes, it was a very fun day, I enjoyed myself alot and although I didn't win or anything I kept on getting better each run apart from when I pushed my limits a bit too much and spun out    It was all ok though.

It just makes me wonder why all these young people don't go along that say "Oh yeah I would waste you on a track au!" They don't even have a go.

Because even if you do really bad you have the most fun in a car (legally) that you can have while wearing pants.

to pull off stunts like that on the road would amount into the thousands in fines: sustained loss of traction, exessive acceleration, excessive speed, careless use..................etc.

the reason why guys don't want to play on the track is purely because they have told everyone how fast their car is, and don't want to prove how shite the owner is at driving. a fast car in a straight line dosn't always equal a fast car around corners, the KP60 (RIP) kept a few sorted cars honest..........aye Matt

Yes even doing that event last year i enjoyed myself even if i was slowest. My inspiration of getting the fxgt finished. And getting out there. Now what happened to poor Chang's car?
