Fueling 4age in KE70

Postby Hachiroku » Tue Mar 21, 2006 10:52 pm

I'm putting a 4age in my ke70 and staying with injection so I obviously need to upgrade the fuel system. What's the best way of doing this? This is what I was thinking:

-Retain standard tank and pickup with extra line into tank for return from surge tank
-Mount a surge tank in the boot supplied generic low pressure electric pump
-Have a 3/8" pipe made up identical to standard fuel line for main line from surge tank to fuel rail
-Use generic high pressure electric pump to supply fuel rail
-Use standard fuel line as efi return to surge tank

Suggestions from others who have done similar conversions would be great.

Thats an ideal setup, same as mine, but you forgot about the fuel filter, Nissan Primera is pretty compact and is a good shape.

Theres easier/cheaper ways, but thats a more bling way.

Easier/cheaper meaning TE71 EFI tank? What would give a better result in the end?

Yeh thats cheaper an easier, A well set up surge tank setup will be better than a factory tank with baffles. Depends if its necessary though, whats the car gunna be used for?

Mainly just a daily driver with the odd day at the track. What would you pay for a TE71 tank and lines? I work at a parts shop so I can get pumps, fuel hose, filter etc for cheap.

im not sure how similar ke35s are to ke70s but with my 35 there was a bolt in the bottom of the fuel tank (for drainage I presume) so I took that out and put a fitting in there to run the fuel hose to. that saved drilling any extra holes and fittings etc into my fuel tank; and still allowed me to have the breather line etc.

i haven't worried about a surge tank or anything though and never had any problems - except for the time I forgot to fill up and it was almost below E and was cornering hard!

so I just left all the original lines exactly as they were and ran a new 3/8 line from the bottom of my fuel tank to a fuel pump then to the fuel rail then to the return line (which was the feeder line for the original engine)

Won't work on a KE70, tank is under the floor rather than behind the seat. I assumes its a sedan, if its a wagon my setup may be suitable.

u will actually find that it has an extra pipe coming out of the tank ready to use for a return line if its a sedan , and wot i did on mine , the cheap ways was using another line and plumbing it in , and used a mitsi starion out of tank pump and peugeot fuel filter 8)
this wrked a treat and didnt cost me buggar all .
remember the ke70 floor plan is identical to the ae86 and u will quite often find tht alot of things are there ready for a conversion , includes holes to mount a different gearbox etc 8)

Yep it's a sedan. I should be able to pinch a similar pump from a rwd turbo Eterna.

Is it not necessary to keep the breather pipe? Can you just run the return back in there?

Will a ke70 fuel line be big enough for the main efi line or will I need to have one made? ie run 1 for supply and a 2nd for return (cheap cheap :D )
