CLUTCH HELP! k-50...

Postby mr pad » Wed Apr 05, 2006 11:33 am

I have the old gearbox outa my trueno and new one all nice and clean ready to go in. Now I was going to replace the clutch with a new kit.

What sorta price can I expect to pay?

Is there anything I need to be careful of when putting the new one in? Just gota make sure it all lines up etc? Do I need to get the flywheel re-skimmed or not? I wasn't getting any clutch shudder or anything before the old box came out....

Whats the best sorta oil to use? Would there be much point in buying 5ltrs or so and filling it, driving it for a few kms and draining it and filling it again? Guess ill see how much metal is on the plug once I get the new box in... How much oil do these boxes take? I think its 2.5ltrs??

Alex.

$345!!!! They need a whole clutch kit if its the first time you have done it as the ones they came out with from factory have a weird pressure plate.. or something....

Im just going to chuck the box back in and do the clutch when it dies (seems ok at the mo).

Got penrite 80 gearbox oil..

So 2.5ltrs to fill it up? Someone must know.

The K series boxes take about that. Just pour it in til it level with the hole.

Yup 2.5l is about right, it may pay to do the rear main on the gearbox too, theyre cheap as chips and easy as to replace.
