If everyone who has expressed interest actually comes, it means I have only five spots left. There are more Honda boys/girls than you can poke a stick at 8O crazy stuff!

You don't have to have a cage to enter. You bring the car how it is as long as it's safe.

you want an entry form?

I don’t' understand. Who wouldn't let you on the track, the track owners/track manager Ian Bowater? and what was considered ridiculously quick times?

I've never had problems with that before and I've run many track days. Was it because people were being muppets? I've had cars doing 41 and 42's at my days and never had the 'track peeps' get on my case. I'd say that there were too many cars out there and the spacing was too close. This is NOT a race event and there will be no offical timing. I'm sure one of the rules of the track was being broken for them to take such serious action.

For those of you who are interested here are the track rules that are imposed on any track hire.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

I'll be running it like I have for the last four years. There will be groups of similar powered cars out at the same time. It is up to the individual to be aware of their surroundings if they are a beginner, and move out of the way of cars coming up on them. If you feel that you are in a group that is too fast/slow for you all you need to do is let me know and I'll put you out with another group. If you are a beginner and would like a few pointers to help you along just let me know as there will be several experienced people there more than happy to dispense their knowledge.

The day runs smoothly as long as people do as the asked and get out on the track when it's their turn. I have no hesitation to tell anyone off or send you home if they continue to be dangerous or just plan stupid. I've done it for and I’ll do it again.

99% of people who come to these days really enjoy them and everyone gets a fair amount of time.

So Gudgen, come a long and go with the flow, you'll have a blast!

and no I don't want to post up a list just yet as I don't have everyone confrimed. When I do, will put up a list of cars entered.

Do we get an "offical" timed lap?
one warm up, one flying, on ecool down? (over lap the cooldown & warm up laps, as in the warm up person goes out when the cooldown person has passed through the corner at the end of the straight)?

Official comprises of 3 people on stop watches, either the average is taken, or the middle time is taken.

Just an idea, and it's always great to get an un-obstructed lap in, it might even give a few n00bs some confidence when they know they're the only ones on the track & not have to worry about coming round a corner to see someone 'parked' across the track infront of them...

No 8O you do not get an official timed lap as it's against the rules of the track hire and this is not an event run by a governing Motor Sport body. As an individual I have hired the track and as that individual it is my job to make sure all the rules are adhered to so everyone has a great day. Everyone will have around 8 - 10 mins on the track at a time and there will be marshal’s watching for any unsafe behaviour, accidents or unsafe cars.

You need to understand that this is a fun day for driver experience and not a ‘race day’ where you find out if you're a legend or not. If you have a mate that is keen to time your laps, by all means go ahead. With my assre on the line if anyone cocks up, we will NOT be racing and we will NOT be officially timing anything. If you want official can I suggest you join a MSNZ affiliated club where they can allow official timing.

Please read the track rules ---> http://tauporacetrack.co.nz/rules.htm and the track notes that I've provided with entry froms for how the day will be run. I’m sure it will make things very clear as to what we can and can’t do. If not PM me and I'll clarify it for you.

I may sound like a Nazi here, but I don’t want people to get hurt, damage their cars or drive outside of their abilities. Trust me; I know what I’m doing as I’ve been doing this sort of thing for many years now.

Thanks
Chelles :)

I read those, and no-where in there did it say we couldn't do a single car pass?
I wasn't meaning run the whole day in this format either, I meant maybe start it at 2pm or something. For a single shot.

When I said "official" I didn't mean we get a MANZ rep out there with an official MANZ stop watch.

Ebola_One wrote:Official comprises of 3 people on stop watches, either the average is taken, or the middle time is taken.

No problem if it's still a no, it'd just be nice if we could get a couple of clean laps in on the day, after all, we are there for our own enjoyment.
And enjoyment for me is beating my previous best.

I'm not telling you how to run your day, it's just that this format has been run in the past with good success. Pre-emptive user feedback if you will :D

Ebola_One: No it didn't say that in either of the rules. However I'm running the day how I see fit. Once you've attended the day and decided that you really don't like the way I run it; then can I suggest you hire the track and run the day however you want. It's nice and simple really. Your suggestions are taken on board however I won’t be using them.

Oh and to get a couple of clean laps with just one person on the track ... assuming this is done all in three mins, counting the 35-40 that will attend we could assume that it would take nearly two hours to get through everyone. I don't think people will wait two hours before they have their next 'play'. Sorry it’s not going to happen on this day.

This day is about maximum time on the track for the amount of money we have spent. It's costing nearly $2k to run this day for you all so please just come along and enjoy it.

I know NZH ran a day down there and it was huge fun, however I don't break the rules and I'm ultra conservative on what I do. Remember you have no insurance for your car when you are out there and sign your life away before you go on the track.

Thanks for your thoughts and ideas.
Chelles :)

PS: No offence taken, I get told how to run the day every time I run a track day. The way I do it works well and I've never had anyone bitch that it was boring or unfair.
