So Supra's back up and running, and running sweet. Only problem is, i want more power
So, what should i do? Keep the 1G-GTE? If so what mod's should i do to it?

I was thinking about a 1JZ, i've seen a few around... but would it really be worth it? What would i need for the conversion? Could i still use the same xmember?

If i decide to stick with the 1G, would i be able to extract a sufficent ( ) amount of power out it to keep my cravings at bay?

What you call sufficient power? <--- This will decide whether to keep the 1G or not.

If your Supra is post 89 with the round instead of square xmember then you can use the same one for a 1J conversion.
I would personally go with a 1J as it puts out a whole heap more power and torque from factory and it's easier to get more out of than a 1G would be.

In the end this all will come down to budget....so before I can continue telling the whole story again have a search in the Tech section and give more info on your Supra eg. What year was it manufactured?

Will also need to know how much power you are craving for and roughly what sort of budget you have...

Really want somewhere between 350hp - 400hp (preferably up the 400end)
Budget isn't a problem, I'm working 2 well paying jobs and have a fair amount saved up.
Car's an '87 Mk3. Pretty much stock except the exhaust, fmic and fuel pump...

Ok well since it's an 87' you'll need a different crossmember to be able to fit a 1JZ in there...

You can get those figures from a 1G just not as easy as you would with a 1J. Hunt is well on his way to making 400hp with his 1G although I'm not sure whether it is going yet or not.

What you'll need is a good free flow exhaust, fmic, fuel pump, injectors, bigger single turbo, bov and then an ECU with a good tune. Normally it's better to go full replacement ECU like Power FC, Haltech, Microtech, Link etc but you will also be able to get the maps nicely tuned with a Piggy back the likes of the GReddy E-manage.

When possible it's always better to replace the whole unit with another one. Less to go wrong...

With that a proper dyno tune you'll have your 400hp with the 1G.

The above will not however come cheaply by a long shot....

thats true if you want a bolt up solution.

another option is having mounts fabricated. there isnt that much difference between the per-facelift and facelift x-members, but enough to make the 1JZ (JZA70) mounts not line up properly.

If you can find a facelift x-member as well as the ZJA70 engine mounts then go for it. otherwise just have some one fabb some up for you which bolt up to the pre facelift setup.

what size injectors would i need? 500cc? 800cc? I've been looking, and would injectors made for a 1JZ, fit into my 1G?

I've got my eyes set already on a link computer from a friend of mine, so computers not a problem.

What kind of turbo would you recomend?

my vote is to put in a 1uz and put a turbo or two onto it. Easy reliable power, plus all the torque you need for the heavy beast. Much better than spending up on a little wee torqueless 2L

You obviously do not share the great love of the MKIII here. They are one of THE most beautiful cars that Toyota has ever created. The weight problems can be sorted out and who cares how big the back seat is when you are driving...
