yeah thats what i thought at first, but if encouraging people to run in front of cars is 'safety' then the organisers are dumb!

I'm afraid they had me baffled too. They were brought along by one of the trade stands - not our choice... it took me two days to work out that they were supposed to be red/green traffic light thingies!!!
