temp gauge help

ive recently put a black top into my ae92 and the temp gauge is off the clock after running it for about 2 min. thinking it was the sensor i swapped it with my old sensor fom my 4af but its still running off the clock.
surely the car cant get that hot so fast.

Matt (deaf_rattle) had this when he did a silvertop into his Corolla. He found there was an earth lead on the temp sensor connector that wasn't wired up.
