ae101 4agze cold rev limit issue

iv heard of this before.... some one asked me about it a few months ago but now i cant recall what it was all about....

car is an ae86 with ae101 4agze trasnplant.

runs fine, awesome power except untill its warm it wont rev past 5500
now im not talking dead cold here...
i mean it can be warmed up in the pits but it wont rev past 5500 unitll its been driven for a k or so.....

whos struck this before?

yep apparantly pretty common.

Seems to be only with the MAP setup ae101s. Std ecu seems to retard the old timing a bit under load once the motors hot and the s/c winding out causes a fair bit of heat.

Been many posts of club4ag and twincam16 sights over the years with various solutions discussed including going to an aftermarket ecu or changing the knock sensor

Should talk to gdsup as he never had an issues with his setup.

Heres a very old dyno of mine.

While it did rev past 5500rpm it basically fell on its ass at this point. Note this was even with a turbo and the std ze ecu. Upgraded to link and problem solved. However I do feel that there are cheaper and easier fixes to the solution.

ah yep im aware of that

this is different, its like the limiter is set to just over 5000.... as in it wont rev over that....

Mine does this. While cold or recently started it has a big drop at the top end. Mine is an 4agze from AE101 into an ae86
