The headunit came with the mounting thing that goes around the headunit but that doesn't seem to fit onto the brackets that are in the car

Are the brackets in the car designed to be held in with friction or held in with screws?

don't mount the headunit cage with the brackets.. just mount the brackets directly to the headunit's iso mounting holes and then mount the unit and brackets into the din position

heh, I have three head units(one JVC, one sanyo and one no name korean thing) where I've had to grind the little metal lumps(punch throughs) that are on the brackets to get them to sit properly in the brakets... kinda silly really, but I guess not everyone plays by the standards?
