One weber carb or four carbs what would you do?
On my race car I am fitting when I get round to it a weber carb but I have also being offered a carb with one for each cylinder on. Which would you think would be the best bet for good performance? I think the four carbs but am I missing something that they don't have that the weber would?

Is it those Keihin(?) bike carbs? It would be cool, for the sheer fact of having 4 carbs, but tuning them
Just use a pair of 45 DCOE's if you're making some big horses with it.

45's are too big for a 4k, 40's would be a much better option and also easier to get
Depends on how hard tuned it is really...if its justifiable to have 4 carbs, then I think a pair of 45's would be too

I currently have 45's on my 4k now and they will be getting binned in favour of some 40's for the next race season.
Yes, 40's are well big enough for 4K. And only then if you had a cam & exhaust system & some headwork to match.
Mikuni's are the carbs you're thinking of.
These are Solex's - very similar. IIRC I think they're about 38's.
Aren't they beautiful?
Note the manifolds and the adaptor plate. Genuine TOSCO gear (prelude to TRD).

a single downdraft is a far cheaper way of improving the stanard set-up, and will offer good performance for a meduim tuned motor.
if you are building an 8k+ screamer then sidedrafts would be the only way to go.

i could offer a very mint set of DHLA40's as part payment, jetted to suit.Dunny wrote:

Thanks but I already have 40's lined up, and personally I'm a weber man. the 45's are not exactly getting sold, just a long term swap
