Yeah, with the price of gas going nana's, something cheap to run is a positive. My 1998 Corolla wagon with 4AFE power got a worst economy ever of 10.5km/l while towing a trailer, and got an average around town economy of 13km/l. So there's a lot to be said for that sort of thrifty consumption.
My manager's parents had one of those Rover's, or a variation on it, and it did something horrendously expensive to the gearbox. Can't recall what it was, but it cost them more money to fix than they got for the car when they sold it. That'd suck.
