removing interior panels

Postby Dirtbag » Thu May 11, 2006 3:21 pm

Is it legal to ride around in a car without interior panels in? Would it fail a WOF?
Just wondering as looking to do a bit of work on some sounds and routing cables really stealth, also you need to take every panel from doors backwards out to get at the parcel tray in an ae101.
Also, anyone with experience with removing panels in an ae101 gimme some pointers on how to remove the panels to get at rear tray, and also the pillar panels for a wire to run from sunvisor down underneath dash?

Cheers

pretty sure that if you remove any energy absorbing material where people can or might sit, that you're going to fail a wof.

All the interior panels you are talking about including A pillar linings are all held in by clips, so simply pulling on them will remove them. Be a bit careful though, they break easily and are likely to flick off the panel when you pull it out and will get lost easily. The only exception for simply pulling off is the pillar lining which goes around the rear quarter panel windows, in which you will have to remove the seatbelt and the small screw in clips above the windows.
