for the bebuild on the bluetop I used engine rebuilders in New Plymouth and couldnt be more happy with the results and the pricing aint too shabby either.

Probably isnt much help at this stage due to the distance, but its another option i guess

Yeah that was me down the back of the workshop :)
Nah sorry man we dont do any porting, but we can get ya head looking like new though :)

If you get really adventurous you could pull the whole motor out and re-ring it, with new bearings.
Its not that expensive i dont think.

fyi: it was discovered that polishing didn't do anything good. Thus, is no longer port and polish, now just port.

further fyi: you may want to price up your options for horsepower gains. Porting is insanely time consuming, so you might get more bang for your buck by spending the money on exhaust, cams, computer rather than porting. Just some food for thought.

I would not recommend Kerry Lindsay's in Upper Hutt as they ignored my simple instructions and caused me a lot of extra hassle and work... and probably some places in some races.

I gave them the block, head, and 0.5mm head gasket and told them to work out how much to take off the head to get the compression ratio to 11.5:1. I also said that I realised it would become an interferrence engine and that was fine with me.
I got the engine back with the head torqued down, put the cams in, and put the engine in the car. After running the engine in I had some doubts and measured the height of the head, and some other 4AGE heads that I had. measuring showed that nothing had been taken off (and I was expecting a little over 1mm to be removed).
It took me a long time to getting round to pulling the head off again and taking it in to get planned.
They planned it for free, after I demmanded so, but they didn't bother to tank the head and clean the shavings out of it... all-in-all a very simple job made difficult because they refused to do what I asked for.
The torque increase in the lower rev range was quite significant after the CR was raised, and made the car much easier to drive.

hopefully, if i get the water pump sorted in time tomorrow, i will have my spare head off and down to KL to ebgin getting the work done. will probably just get pressure tested and planed for now as i have a few other things in the pipeline that i should be saving for.
