The Ashvegas Snow (56k beware!)

Postby HaWk » Wed Jun 14, 2006 11:12 pm

While many aucklanders spent 3 hours without power due to high winds, that day many hillbilly Ashburtonians couldnt even open their front doors to get out and tell ma to get off the dang roof.

Thought i might post some pics, just unbelievable amounts of snow dumped in "vegas" in such a short period of time. I dont have school tomora, havnt since monday, coz half the country bumpkins arnt allowed to drive the tractor in to town coz the 4wd wont get past the gate. enjoy :D

This is me thinking about how the FCK im guna get my car anyway (iv given up, and it still sits there with snow surrounding it)

The snow started to eat my TS banner :(

Under all that is a 1984 purple kp61 starlet (my wheels for the week as it has so much clearance and just goes anywhere).

See ya up there Mark :D

Im riding home from dunedin on sunday, definately looks like I wont be taking the inland road but by the looks of things SH1 could be just as bad. Ment to be another southerly coming through soon :? How are the roads from timaru to ashvegas now?

most of the roads are fine now, even the inland ones i'd say are probably clear, everywhere that isnt a road still has at least o foot of snow on it, not gonna melt in a hurry

we had a big chunk of a brick wall fall off at work, landed on dads Safari 4WD that i was driving, roof is now fcuked... and we've got a tractor front end loader holding the rest of the wall up so it doesnt fall over
got stuck at home today trying to pull the 2wd hilux out so i have something to drive :P

Mt Hutt looks like the pick of the bunch at the moment, Cardrona looks ok but not sure if it's open yet, Coronet opened today I believe with a 30cm upper base, which usually means it's pretty crappy man made snow barely covering the lower and off trail slopes. Remarks hardly have anything and won't be open for awhile. Haven't looked at TC.

Check out the web cams and the likes

Hell yea Mount Hutt is pumping at the moment, 70cm upper and lower base so itll be good riding all round. Im heading up Saturday hopefully guna catch a fine spot during the southerly this weekend which may bring more snow :(!
