ze with t50 how long will it last?

Postby hipsi » Thu Jul 13, 2006 6:30 pm

i'm putting a ze motor into a ke30 have looked at the cost of fitting a w series box and it's huge in compared to a t series,
any ideas on how long it'l last if i go with the cheaper option or if it's worth doing it at all???

as rick has said,
i personally dont like t50's behind boosted engines. i have seen them blow with only a couple of hard launches.

w seiers and one of brendons, nite_b's bellhousings are the way to go and the bonus of being able to run the bigger 9 1/4" clutch

I dont know where you have been getting your T series prices from but for a Toyota W55 gearbox w/ 4AGE bellhousing from rear drive is $840 + gst which is pretty good considering people sell there t-50's with bellhousings for around $600 +. Even if you did get a cheap T-50 it wont last for ever especially if you are going to racing, drifting hard launches etc.... and if it does break you will have to buy another to replace it costing more, plus you cant run the (bigger) super charger clutch in the T-50.

theres 2 answers to the question.

1. How will you drive it. (your putting a ze in a 30 so that is hard)

and

2. How long is a peice of string.

Im running t40 behind 4agte, and its still fine, and it gets skidded HARD.

However, I consider myself lucky.

Do what your budget allows man.

is it a turbo engine or just standard ze? i've got a t50 behind my 4age bluetop (standard) and haven't had any problems, not sure how much more power a ze would have compared with a standard bluetop though.

if you're turboing the engine though I would definitely go for a w55, as I've said before i've sen 5th gear blown to pieces on a t50 off a 4agte.

4agte and t50s do not go together very well...
