Injectors.....4agze

Postby slighty_sykotic » Mon Jul 17, 2006 2:59 pm

Hi,

What boost have you guys been running on your std (1st gen gze) injectors, esp turbo setups.

Im running a gze with a bluetop head, std gze injectors and fuel pump, link LEM, and a td04 turbo.

Now, went back to dyno today to get the boost wound up to around a bar, (from 8psi), but we ran into problems...the injectors are basically maxed out at around 13-13.5.

Did a fuel flow test on the lines, and it is good, so can rule out the pump (at this boost level anyway), and the pressure is around 50 psi (from memory, whatever, brent from speedworks reckoned it was fine).

And mixtures are pretty much spot on (around the 12ish mark).

So, if that as far as I can go on std injectors?

And if so, what next... Brent reckons evo's are the go, as they have a nice spray angle, and of course are at least 510cc.

Maxed out meaning 100% duty cycle at what afr?

13.5 seems a little low for 365's, but pretty close, youd think the t04 wouldnt flow that much air however.

Get some evo's or some rx7's for it, unless your gonna stop at 15psi, go for some 440's out of vr4 etc.

Interesting, as ive got 365's in my car, and i was planning on a bit more boost than that, so i might have to revise as well.....

Not 100%, but around the 90 mark, and around 12:1 afr, just below i think.

Brent reckons im getting "blips" from the injectors being so close to the limit, as you can see on my power curve small little dips and crests near the top end.

Yeah, About there is where they run out on standard injectors.
I know a few people who ended up about there on the 365's.

From what Matt Dunn said a while back 440s will stretch just over 200atw and most flow 500cc, Simon said he has had some good results with 440s also. Ive just brought some 2nd hand 440s off a 7m for my sh1tta, they will do me for now anyways, Id love 200 atw but anything over 170 kw would be fuc*en wicked!!!

did your tuner say he could get the fuel right with a link with 550s??? The tuner Im using said not to go too big because he might have problems getting a/f ratio correct. Karl skewes said he had 550s on megasquirt sweet, and Bazdas got HUGE ones on his but both arnt using links.

Whats your power goal?

Yes.

440's good for 200kw
but the 365's only good for 200hp.

A big difference.

Yeah matt,

Im at 200hp ish, and they are maxed.

Yeah, Breant reckoned it would be ok with the 550s, but said the earlier 510cc from evo 1,2,3 (i think) would be fine.

But im only aimming for about the 150-160kw at the wheels marks, so maybe 440s mighgt do...im guessing they would be a fair bit cheaper.

And as a really interesting side note, CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTER BEFORE TUNING....

Did a full tune a few weeks back, and the other day i installed a catch can, and changed the fuel filter......

I wish I had a printout of how bloody rich it was, it was incredible the difference 8O

From the look of the old filter, it was a OEM toyota part...meaning its 15 years old....

Ok, well thats good to know for future referance, maybe he meant like waaay bigger!

Yeah they will be ample for that, Evilgtz was making close to 190 atw on 440s also. I just payed $200 for a set of four 2nd hand off a 7mgt, $150 - $200 seems to be the going rate. Im making sure my sh1tta is a ok in all areas before it goes back on the dyno, Ferkin gonna cost me enough as it is let alone having to pay for more dyno time because of little silly things holding it back - Good luck with the re run dude!
