blacktop wont fire -ASAP HELP please!

Postby Santa'sBoostinSleigh » Tue Aug 08, 2006 12:45 pm

ok well i turned the key in my blacktop conversion last night and no luck

the starter cranks, but the car wont start

coil has power,
ecu has power
ignitor has power on 2 of the wires
injectors have power
fuel pump is making noises

pulled out a sparkplug, attached a lead and earthed - no spark
(all of the leads are brand new)

any ideas?

this damn car needs to go asap or i wont be making it to trackday!!

attach test light to injector plug and see if it is flashing while cranking.
If it is not it means that ECU is not getting crank/cam shaft position sensor signal, or there is no sensor/ECU ground attached to the engine.
If it is flashing, that means ignitor is not grounded, or faulty, or coil is faulty.
Check for codes aswell.

A classic is that the ignitor isn't earthed.
Also check all the plugs are plugged in. Tricked myself about 2 weeks ago - could start motor, no spark, found one of the 2 ignitor plugs wasn't plugged in!
Any codes from the computer?

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

all the E, E0 should be earthed, the fan is running because you have to short an A/C pressure switch plug on the loom.
There is second part to earth which should bolt on to the head.

That would be because you have removed air conditioning, there is a pressure switch on one of the ac lines, with it not plugged in makes the fan/s go. either plug the switch back in, or bridge the plug.

Iam 98% sure its the one marked in the photo below (which is pluged into the ac lines), I will have to have another look in the day light to confirm. Do you still have the a/c sensors, switches etc.. if so you could try and plug them back into the empty sockets
