7agte question...pins

Postby no_8wire » Wed Aug 09, 2006 7:21 pm

Now I know others have sanded down the 7afe pins on a lathe to fit the 4ag/z/e pistons...Why didnt they just use the 4age pins instead?

I used a electronic vernier and the difference in size was 0.1mm

So can anyone tell me why you would skim down the 7afe pins instead of using 4age ones?

if your using the 4age pistons, im sure you will use the 4age gudgen pins.
As you will be getting the rods honed out and bushed so its full free floating..

Is there something I am missing? Why would I need to hone out the rods if the 4age pin is smaller? Bushed? WTF?

I don't really know exactly but from what people say that one is floating pin and another is floating piston.

4age is full floating
7afe is floating piston only

no8 that means the pin is locked in place in the 7afe rod, hence the issues you had getting them out

Yes I understand this...but if the pin is smaller already wont it float with out modding the rod?

Or if 0.1mm is not enought to float it, will it still lock being 0.1mm smaller?

Basicly I dont want to mod the rods...pins im ok with modding but not the rods.

duno what the clerance should be

i think bazda means ream out the rod so you can fit the proper brass bush for the pin.

yes get the rod honed out and put in a bush.
you better make it full free floating cos it much better on the rod/psiton.
