blacktop/silvertop mix

Postby Santa'sBoostinSleigh » Thu Oct 19, 2006 2:56 pm

just had a random thought

would a silvertop bottom end, with blacktop head, pistons, intake and exhaust manifolds be a good combo?

im guessing a blacktop ECU would run this? (other than going to a link etc)

thoughts?

yup, they are part of the bottom end :P
but the blacktop pistons to take advantage of the compression (and blacktop head?)

part of the reason me thinking this is if my race engine sh!ts itself before i get it rebuilt with my silvertop rods, is that i can just whack the head on a silvertop block and she will be all gravy

But if your blacktop rods give way then bits of pistons and rod will more than likely bugger up the valves anyway. Guess you could ask Distrb what his head was like after his gave up?

currently stock blacktop, done ~105kms

and if i dont replace my rods before they go kapow, then im looking at other options :)

i have some silvertop rods in the garage
and will have a whole silvertop coming shortly, so if it may help me i may keep it, and if not i will sell it!

just drop the blacktop rods out of the block and put the silvertop rods in with ARP bolts and new bearings, along with blacktop pistons.
if u use a whole silvertop bottom its going to have more k's onit and the silvertop pistons are going todo silly things with ur comp ratio.

If I was u id just put the silvertop rods in TRD h/g new rings on the blacktop pistons bearings an arps then go nuts.
