SCCC TARMAC WEEKEND

Postby fangsport » Sun Oct 15, 2006 1:53 pm

the South Canterbury Car Club in conjunction with Robbies Bar and Bistro is holding a tarmac sprint/hillclimb weekend on the 4/5th November.

the Saturday event is held on the Mt Horrible Rd, anyone wanting an insight as to the challenge, check out the in-car video that Matt Dunn posted on here.

Sunday will see a brand new event on the challenging Pareora Gorge Rd. this event is not for the faint hearted, as going off will see your clothes out of fashion before you come to a stop.

both events are rollcage compulsory, and further info will be uploaded onto:

http://www.southcanterburycarclub.org.n ... lendar.htm

It was my video but someone else hosted it.

It was done before I had a decent camera and mount so it's not as good.

Will load it up and post a link.

ahhhh... needed my fix.

You get more than a little squirrely on several of the corners. You need 4wd :P ..... the TD05 definately gives you a broader spread of power than my little TD04.... would have been interesting to match the two cars... and drivers... however I think on a tight climb like that one I would have had you.... I think..... now all I need to do is prove it!

lol

My car and my driving ( and the camera ) have all improved since then,

so bring it on....

Was still deciding if I will do the event this year as I am sort of committed to another series,

but since the challange is there.....

If you enter, so will I.

(I will do the one in the video, but will not be doing the other event the next day.)

come on Matt, after sweet-talking the residents, you want to miss it?

i'm trying to quickly sort a better final drive ratio to make it more worthwhile entering. have managed to out-source a steward that comes with a COC attached, so i am now free to enter, if my car still goes??

shit, even i'm last by 30 seconds, giving that road a hard time will make all the hard yards with the Waimo council all the more worthwhile.

to all those who couldn't didn't enter for what ever reason..............haha! you missed a really grouse weekend of tarmac sprinting.
once all the interested clubs can schedule their respective events without date clashes, i'm sure we will see some good numbers for what will be a very exciting hillclimb series next year.

My clutch issues ended up being pressure plate related. New 4 puck, new retensioned cover and I should have it fitted by mid week.

Yeah, I'm gutted I missed that one, but with partly short notice (I forgot it was coming up so quick) and so close to other events (Interclub Rutherfords Rd Shingle Sprint and the next CCC Speed Event) I had to miss something.

However next year, I'm making it a definite for all South Island Street Sprints and Hillclimbs - I'll add Mt Horrible to the list with Akaroa and Little River hillclimbs. :)
If I say I don't need anyone
I can say these things to you
'Cause I can turn on any one
Just like I turned on you
I've got a tongue like a razor
A sweet switchblade knife
And I can do you favors
But then you'll do whatever I like
